How do I install a new SATA HDD in Windows 2000. The device is found at startup, but how do i get it to show in explorer so I can format it, or so I can install windows on it?

You may contact me via ICQ: 18444411

You will need to install SATA Controller drivers that should have come with the motherboard or SATA controller card, so that windows can see the drive.

Then you can go to Start -- Run -- diskmgmt.msc

You can then right click on any drive and create partitions or format.

To install windows on it would require having the SATA drivers on a floppy when booting from the windows CD and during the installation hitting F6(?) to install 3rd-party drivers.
