Hi guys

I have a problem with my work laptop. Its a Dell Latitude, quite old. It has been working fine then suddenly today during boot up it did a disk check. I let it complete this and then logged on as normal to the desktop. However I am unable to start outlook and it comes up with the error message "Check the application or DLL for program/files/microsoft office/outllib.dll as it is not a vilid windows image"

I am really stuck here and don't know what to try before getting back to work tomorrow.

Is there something simple I can try to resolve this issue

Thanks in advance

Gav

Which version of Office?

You could try inserting the Office CD and then repairing or reinstalling the original installation.

Paul,

Thanks for your reply. I have used "an" installation disk and managed to repair the damaged file. (I was worried about serial no.s and licences but it didn't need one...Phew!)

I had a ghost image and managed to extract the DLL file it had a problem with but it still idin't work, maybe because it wasn't registered properly. I must confess I don't know much about registering files.

Anyway fixed it with the disk now. Thanks again for the advice

dlls are dependent on other dlls and have dlls that are dependent on them and so on. So it is unlikely that just one had "gone wrong" and so the "whole chain of command" usually needs fixing. Good that all is well.
