First of all I am new to this forum and would like to say thanks for all the great info I have already picked up!

I have a old win95, 32M ram, 3. something gig HD. Thats about all the info I have without opening the case. Any ideas on what I can do with it? I am pretty new at screwing around with hardware and such (but that will change now that I have come here!), I read on some site or another that I could reformat it to be a server. Is this something to consider? Any other ideas, or should I should I just take it outside to get some stress reduction with a sledgehammer? Or should I have just let my wife through it in the trash a year ago?

Thanks in advance for any input!

You could use it to install and learn to use Linux... Linux is far less demanding than Windoze and may someday be a viable replacement for Windoze for the general public...

Please don't simply toss it, it is full of toxic metals and needs to be recycled if you do decide to get rid of it...

Hi jlreich,

You might want to use a program like Belarc Advisor (http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html) to find out more about your computer. If it's a Pentium class computer, my suggestion would be to up the RAM to whatever the maximum is and bring it over to the local highschool. There are plenty of kids that need a servicable computer. It's better than taking a hammer to it....;)

Thanks Steve. I will have to boot it up and try 'Belarc advisor'. It's been about 2 years since I have even used that computer but I do remember it is pentium class.
