About to clear my drive and completely reinstall. Having tried several versions of Red Hat and Mandrake, I feel like something different and two of the other distros I have are Debian 3r1 and Slackware 8.1.
Has anyone used either of these or have any opinion on them?
I already expect some difficulty since apparently nForce support can be difficult, so Ill still be dual boot XP for a while just to guarantee the network connection to access internet for aid.

I would go for Slackware first. I did try Debian but I had trouble getting it installed. Maybe it just didn't like the pavilion that I was trying to put it on so it was a short lived try out. I have never had trouble installing Slackware just kept getting a code 18 error with it. So my vote goes to Slackware.

Just to be obtuse I ignored your advice and installed debian :D . Wasnt difficult at all. Only problem was the CD of it I have is buggered and I think just about all the packages beyond the base system were non-functional , which meant I couldnt even install the Nvidia network drivers to allow apt-get to use the net to download unbroken packages  .
So I installed slackware, and of the two I have to say I think I preferred the Debian installer. Not to say I think the slack installer is bad just a personal thing, they're both good.
So far Ive already had one code 18(killed Xwindows, dont ask me how  ), and I managed to successfully compile a new kernel on my very first attempt on any distro, exept for the fact I didnt do the nvidia network driver properly (I left out make install  ). But hopefully I should have something usable very soon.:)
Definitely dont think I'll be going back to red hat any time soon.
