Hi,
I have Windows XP Pro installed on my home PC with 5 family members. The install went well and setting up the account was a breeze. Now it appears that only my account works for Web access even though we all have Admin rights. I don't won't to delete the accounts because I may lose the e-mail in the in-box. Even McAfee keeps popping up with and error "Can't perform Virsu scan" on everyone's account except mine. Two questions: (1) Do I need to set up a group or just delete these accounts and start over? (2) Should I do Admin function as myself with Admin rights or log in as Administrator and perform these task?

Have you selected "use this connection for all users" in the connection set up ? Older version of mcafee virus scan had issues with multiple user accounts in win2k and winxp. Please post the exact error message here.

Sorry I forgot the error message......Here it is:
VShield Error (Title of the box)
Virus data files are missing
Unable to scan downloaded file.
That's the pop up I get each time a User (Family member) logs into their account with XP.

Start > controlpanel > Network connections > click on your connection.
In the box that opens select 'save this user name and password for the following users' and click on the 'Anyone who uses this computer'. You need to be offline to be able to do this and I have assumed that all the users of your computer are using a single connection.
Mcafee.......they seem to work on it from the time XP was launched.
Try this first, give full control to other users to the mcafee common files directory.
X:\Program Files\Common Files\NetworkAssociates\VirusScan Engine\6.0.xx
Right click 6.0.xx or whatever your version of mcafee is.
Click properties
click security tab
You need to select all users one by one in the top panel
In the bottom panel allow all actions for all users.
Remember you have to do this for each and every user except your account.
If you feel confident you can fine tune the folder permissions more by going to the advanced tab.
If that doesn't work, one more thing to try is to do a comlete uninstall of McAfee - get the document for manual uninstall from McAfee; do the automatic add/remove first, then go through and clean the registry and file folders, according to the instructions for manual uninstall. Then, reinstall McAfee to X:\Documents and Settings\All Users\SharedDocuments.

Will certainly give this a try. By the way, when ever I install a program that I want everyone to use, is this the recommended location X:\Documents and Settings\All Users\SharedDocuments?
I was under the impression that SharedDocuments was for sharing via the Network.
