I'm trying to upgrade my computer. I just bought a soyo k-7 dragon motherboard and it came with a AMD 1.4 ghz cpu and 256 meg of 2100 ram. When I first put everyting together I was getting a series of beeps and I tried following the manual to fix the problems. Now, however, I am getting no beeps at all. The power is working, the cpu fan is on. Drives, when I had them connected were getting power, etc...

So, I'm getting no beeps, I've even tried to isolate the mobo from the case and still nothing. Any thoughts? http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/eek.gif

the best way of first telling maybe what it is...

Remove both the Primary and Secondaty IDE cables. (eg disconect HDD +CDROM) and then the power for these devices ! do the same with the FDD cable and power cable all that should be left is the

M/Board
Ram
Cpu
Video card
Main power supply

(note if there is a problem with the I/O of the HDD for example it "could" freeze the system before the postcheck (The beeps) completes)

Right there now should be somthing !?! ( either it will try to boot and find no HDD or FDD !! thats good !)

if still nothing then most probebly your mother/board is DEAD...

if at this point you get more then one short beep which meens all OK.. post the combination (eg 3 short, or 2 long) here and im sure someone or i will point you in the right direction.

If at this point All is ok then one by one re connect the FDD then HDD then anything else there may be ..

Nothing beets the process os elimination hehe

Good Luck ( hope this helps )
