Have you added anything recently, hardware or software??
Have you tried actually entering SAFEMODE and see if MsConfig is available??
Do you run updated Anti-virus software??
yes i can access it in safe mode but what then? when i click on load normal mode it doesnt seem to change once its restarted! and yes i have virus software and ive done a scan!
i clikced on view under safe mode and it says something about a non recognised driver or it may need updating and try removing the driver thats causing the problem but i dont know what its called or were to find it! also it mentions somethibg about a .sys file!
what should i do?
as for instaling something new NO only a trojan remover which ive already removed, although i did delete a file that was in use but i have no idea what it was!
whats the command to restore the reg to an earlier date?

You would need a boot disk (e.g., Win98) and let it load to the prompt...type in scanreg_/restore (note: replacing the underscore with a space).
You should have 5 choices...select one of them and ...remember to remove the boot disk before rebooting
You might also need to run a System File Check...START>PROGRAMS>ACCESSORIES>SYSTEMTOOLS>SYSTEMINFORMATION>...under the TOOLS tab is the File Checker...

------------------
The file mmsystem.dll is not listed in the [boot] section of system.ini. Multimedia services may be erratic.
