Just bought nwe mobo and won't boot. It's an ECS P6BA-A+.
I can get it to power on but no power to any device. I checked all devices on another system (CPU PII, 128mbRAM, Video card ati rage pro and a Savage S4). All devices work fine but when I put them on this board---nothing but lights on and no one home. I even switched out the power supply--still no luck. I cleared the CMOS by changing the jumper as ECS tells me(I did put the jumper back to default) but all I can get is the power button to turn the board on and off. I put this board in a new case I bought. I have checked for any kind of grounding or improper fit. Everything seems normal.
I did go through and checked all power supply connectors. I checked everything I could think of.
Every item attached to this board is working.
The old MOBO does the same thing this new board does and that's why I replaced it.Is it possible that the board is bad?
How do I check this board out before sending it back?

un hook all drives,ie meaning drives cdrom , hardrives floppy etc, then try to boot up. If not post back and tell what happen.

I got the exact same problem.
everything attached is working.
nothing but power on light goes on, on powerup.
i did notice that leaving power on Hdd but idecable disconnected will make the drive start spinning, whereas idecable connected and hdd does not start spinning.

Any suggestions ??

Try it as a bare bones system, only motherboard, CPU, memory, video and keyboard. If you get no video it's most likely a ground problem, get some cardboard washers from a computer shop and install them between the metal standoffs and the chassis.

CPU could also be bad, is this the same CPU in both problem boards? And is the power supply 250watts or greater?

If possible, try different memory.

Two video cards?? I do hope you're trying one at a time... http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

I Got the board up and running. Video card cable connection wasn't tight enough.
Can get ATI rage pro Turbo 8mb video card to work fine but I cannot get my Savage III S540 16mb S4 video card to work. Windows can't load the driver I downloaded for it.Windows warns me that the driver selected is not made for that card. I install anyway and get nothing but a black screen and nothing works.
Thanks for the help.
