Hello all,

Maybe someone can help me out here. Recently, my computer died on me. At first I thought this was no problem, all I had to do was simply reformat the hd and reinstall the version of windows that was previously on the system. However, 8 reformats later and installations I keep getting the same error in the form of the BSOD. The error simply states:

unable to load device driver /SystemRoot/System32/Drivers/mnmdd.SYS

Device driver cannot be loaded

error status 0xc000012f

The operating system that I am trying to load on this computer is the Windows 2000 server. IF anyone can tell me what the problem is please help me out.

This person (http://www.computing.net/windows2000/wwwboard/forum/53766.html) had a power-supply problem - but then there was more than just one file involved - and not just that one that relates to netmeeting. Just a thought.

If you are installing from the CD it could be worth trying to copy the files to the HDD and run the installation from there instead. If this is a hardware problem perhaps attempting to install a different OS would fail in a similar way but might help with the diagnostic side of things??

You can try disabling the particular driver from loading at startup, thorough recovery console. You need the windows 2000 cd rom.Boot the system from the cd rom, select recovery console. In the recovery console command prompt type 'disable mnmdd.SYS', exit and reboot.

... would also be useful to know whether or not you can boot up into safe mode.
