hi guys, around a month after i bought my motherboard (asus via chipset.. one of the x series ones), it started rebooting windows xp after the log in screen. what causes this? around 1 out of every 10 times i turn on the computer. no worry but this really does happen after ur hardware goes through some wear and tear?

On XP it is equivalent to a BSOD/Reboot sequence.

Is it happening always at the same point during the booting sequence? if it is more random could be a wire in the case shorting and you need to move it away or wrap it in plastic

it occurs a few seconds after logging in from the start screen. few econds after wallpaper appears :)

Does it ever happen after a restart?
I'm thinking that this occurs when first turning a computer on because a component has not fully initialized at the point where it is detected by bios or Windows.
It is possible in some bios's to delay the boot sequence slightly to allow components more time to initialize. But if this only happens 1 in 10 boots, I wouldn't worry too much.

I guess There is a virus on your pc...... There is a virus that can cause rebooting your pc... try to activate the buil-n firewall @ the advance settings on your network....if not....then,, u have to clean ur pc wd updated anti-virus or have it reformat
