compaq bios

I am looking for a bios upgrade for a compaq 4000 p2 266. on the hp site it asks for a model number but its suggested means of finding same prove fruitless. however I have taken a guess at 6266MMX as it is the only one that incorporates 266 ? (if I'm on the rioght lines)

You can't upgrade bios.

Sorry, I know HP jacked up Compaq's support website...

But most Compaqs had the model number on a sticker on the case. have you checked?

1st recomended way is control, alt S. that did nothing, no sticker on the case either.
