Ok. So I'm probably not qualified to enter this arena. But I figure it's a good place to learn. So here goes. The computer I purchased in February '01 always had a faulty floppy drive. That is, the light stayed on and it wouldn't read disks. I finally found out from various sources that the cable was in the wrong way around. So having fixed that problem I now realise that the led lights are not working either. This didn't bother me before because I thought they were only supposed to work when the computer was about to blow or something. (that's how bad I am) Then I started reading topics about blinking led lights etc. So should I fix them or just leave them off? Oh, and by the way how do I fix them?

Wlcome,
Check your floppy drive to other pc if led is not glowing there is problem of bad led if it working then the problem is lying in data cable or mother board. Bad led can be replaced but it requre some skill if you have try to replace
If you are asking about the Power LED and the Hard drive Led.
The 2 most common reasons for them not working are.
They are not connected correctly to the mother board.
Or the Poles are reversed.
If the Floppy cable was installed incorrectly in your system as noted .
It’s a good bet your LED cables are also reversed .
Check you Mother board manual for the connector lay and trace the wire.
If they are connected to the correct pins.
Then remove them and reverse them. They are polarity sensitive + -
