Computer is not detecting HD

My friend computer when it turn on it shows a error msg about the primary, secondary and all those drives not found. Then a Cmos error pops out and loading default or something like that. I thought the HD was faulty so i connected the HD to another computer. Now that computer is also having the same error even without that HD. Could it be a Virus? how can I fix that?

Before the techs come on can you post back the exact error messages.
