illegal operation message at shut down

When I try to shut down my PC, an "illegal operation " error message pops up. Clicking to close the window does nothing. It keeps coming back and the computer will not shut down because of it. I have to cut the power each time. What is the possible cause of this and how do I fix it?

some windows pls, what you runnin have you checked device mgr for conflicts.. might have somthing going on with the IRQ's there to check that
