Hi,

I have just built a new PC - Asus a7v600, Athlon 2500XP.
I have taken two HDD's from my old PC running Win 98, and I have installed Win 2000 Pro on the primary HDD (20gb). Now I cannot read my Slave HDD(80gb). It appears in my computer, but when I try to access the drive i get an error message saying 'Parameter is incorrect'. Does this have anything to do with FAT32 or Large Disk Support?

I have formatted both drives and reinstalled Windows 2000 but still nothing from the Slave HDD.

Any help would be appreciated.
VCM

PS - I'm A bit of a newbie, so please be gentle! Cheers

What file system did you put on the 2000 drive? FAT or NTSF?

I left the drive as FAT. What is NTSF and what is the difference?

Thanks for you quick reply,

Do you know for sure that the slave drive worked before you moved it to the new PC?

So far everything I've turned up on that error points to either corrupt data or a damaged drive.

You should probably download the manufacturers disk diagnostics and check the drive.

If it proves to be mangled and there are any files you need to recover you could try a recovery utility like GetDataBack (http://www.runtime.org/) or PC Inspector (http://www.pcinspector.de/file_recovery/UK/welcome.htm).
