Hi all..

It appears we had a case of the "trollies" here today. Two different people were nicely asked to cut out their anti-social behavior, refused, and were turfed. Considering I have only had to ban a total of 2 people for trolling in the last 3.5 years prior to this, it's been a red-letter day. ;)

There may be more, since these things tend to go in waves. If you see anyone new trying to "stir the muck", don't hesitate to contact me.

Sometimes these folks leave detritus in various forums that doesn't belong there, but that I don't want to delete. So, I created a new forum called "Bit Bucket", way at the bottom, where such stuff can be moved by myself or the mods. If you find a flamewar or some other strange discussion just "disappears", it was probably moved there (if not deleted outright.) Feel free to visit there and reply if you are really bored, I guess. ;)

you did the right thing, Charles. One of the reasons that I use this forum about 99% of the time and the others about 1% is the way you try to keep it controlled. Keep up the good work!

Agreed!
That's always been one of the reasons this is my favorite place to be....You don't put up with that kind of nonsense for long.

And I for one am grateful. ;)

Hehe..."Bit Bucket". I like that. :D

Standing OVATION!!!

I have been observing the trolls (seem more like Orcs to me) from work and I haven't been logging in since I don't have time to catch up when I am at work. As a result, I was not able to comment or alert and I was finding the whole kiddie attack thing really offensive...

I appreciate the swift action and general return of civility to the scene... I will certainly be willing to alert if the malady returns... do we use the "report this post to a moderator to do that"??

Definitely hard to miss.
I finally got to try out the ignore function of the forum.

Frankly it just seemed sad that people had so little life that they had to spend so much time in an area that they professed to dislike.:p

Hopefully we won't have to deal with any for another 3.5 years. ;) That's a pretty good record 1:1278 days we have a troll.
Good job, Charles and mods.

There seems to be a new breed of troll on the loose.....these aren't your common everyday variety, these seem to be "paid professional" trolls.

How else can you explain some of them...they HAVE to be getting money to be that {fill in favorite adjective here}.

And I manage to miss out on all the fun...Guess that's what I get for going out of town...

I will certainly be willing to alert if the malady returns... do we use the "report this post to a moderator to do that"??

Yep, that's what it's for.

We've done exceptionally well - in the more than 3 years I've been moderator, we've had to show a couple of people the door, as Ixl already pointed out, and have only had about a half dozen or so squabbles that progressed to the point I had to "lay down the law". (Excluding a few scattered warnings here and there that didn't escalate into problems) Considering the number of people using the forums every day/night and the general tendency of people to show less consideration for others while online, that's an excellent track record.
