After 4/5 years of faithful servicer my PC is now booting only as far as the following message: "invalid system disk Replace thge disk and then press any key".
Previously, this has appeared only when I forgot to remove a floppy from the drive and quickly reectified when I took floppy out.
I have no idea what to do. I do not have the oiginal disks any longer.
Help.

Welcome dc stick around
Is your bios detecting your hardrive. Like on boot up does it find your harddrive. Hit del on startup and see if it shows up in your bios. If not you could have a defective drive , unless you have foool inside the case lately?
Post back and give some info

You have either lost your bios setting for the hard drive [which means you need to go into bios and redetect your hard drive] or MORE LIKELY, you have a dead hard drive....which indeed is not good news. Right after turning on the computer...push the DEL key to go into bios.......go to the section related to hard drive and let it autodetect......if it doesnt find a hard drive.......well.....at least you know what the problem is then!
