any of you have an audigy 2 NX? I really want some type of external sound, whether it be the NX or an audigy 2 platinum with the front bezel. i really hate having to unplug my speakers to plug in my headphones and then back. the audigy 2 platinum is kinda expensive so i am hoping someone has an alternative for me!! thanks

If you have line out and speaker out on your existing sound card, you could independently control the two; headphones and speakers without the Y jack.

Yeah, yeah, I know, I'm cheap. I even use onboard sound but it connects to my Home Theater 5.1 system ;) Not my next system though...

Fruss, how does it work if you want to only listen to the headphones and not disturb others with the speakers also going??

Usually desktop speakers and theater systems have volume controls on them so if you want just headphones you can turn just the speakers down.
