I am trying to capture digital video from my JVC GR-DV700 camcorder to my pc using Premiere Pro thro' the firewire port but cannot get the software to recognise the camera. I've managed to do it using Pixela Image Mixer but the resolution isn't high enough (only 320x240 and not 720x576 that I require). Do I need some Extra Software, hardware or both, or am I doing something wrong (wouldn't be the first time!).
If anyone has any suggestions, please post.

Computer spec:-
AMD2400XP
1Gb DDR Ram
ATI Radeon 9200 vivo
Hard drives 80Gb DV storage and 40Gb system.
Motherboard Asrock K7VT2
PCI firewire expansion card
Windows XP Pro

Well I was right, I was doing something wrong! The system needed the camera to be mains powered when connecting with the computer. As soon as I tried this, XP recognised the new device and requested the prefered software and all was ok!!
Pretty stupid mistake really but we all live and learn, so I thought I'd share it with you all.

Thanks for the solution/update Mike!

I read your initial post and completely forgot about it. I didn't have an answer at the time though anyway but was certainly curious about what was going on...
