Howdy all. HP Pavilion 6630, celly 500,256 pc133,
30gb WD hdd, WIN98se. OK it's slowly but surely been
going down hill. I ran the restore disk several times,
NO JOY. I fdisk & formatted, Restore disk again!
Still messed up. Every time it boots I get the message
Windows registry is bad-- I click restore and it says
it restored a good one, please reboot. sameo if it does
get to the desktop, any click of the mouse brings a
illegal operation message!! Usually Explorer fault
MSHTML>DLL. Or some thing. I've formatted & reinstalled
too many times to be FUN! Any and all help acepted
gratefully.

Lucius, Thanks for the linkage! I will check it out.

the original 10GB. It's been on the shelf for 5
months. Was working fine when upgraded, but it does
the same thing!! Plus ,I get a BSOD (fatal exception
in VDX VVM {01)+00005502) HELP

Hey Bod,
Have you tried changing the RAM? If you have a good stick laying around, you might try it.

SO BIG THANKS. I'll post back if that problem
reapears. Thanks again.

damfino,

I'm running the same system and I found that it does tend to be a bit picky about what RAM is in it...speed doesn't seem to matter but my machine seems to like PNY, does ok with Samsung (that is what originally came in it) but doesn't relly like some others...didn't really think it was worth it to try Crucial in it. also was that a single stick 256MB? they don't like those either.
