I have borrowed a laptop for work which is running Windows 2000 Professional. I have a profile for myself loaded into the machine by the PC Helpdesk at work which I use to get into the laptop, after which I then dial into the remote access server at work using a dial up networking session. The profile has been screwed up when the Helpdesk told me to log off and log on the machine (not re-boot!)I have a user id and password dialog box to get into the PC but when I enter the correct info I am now getting the following message "Unable to log on as the netlogon service is not running on this machine"
Does anyone know what the netlogon feature is and how I can at least get into the laptop at all? If I hit the cancel button it just goes back to "press cntl, alt and del to log in". If I could get into the Laptop I might be able to dial into the office.
I don't know if this can be answered with anyone knowing the specifics of how my profile is loaded by my firm but I hope someone can help.
