I´ve just bought a 64 Mb Micron DIMM SDRAM and I´d installed it in an Intel Motherboard Socket 7, Pentium MMX 166 Mhz. The strange thing is that when it boot the memmory count gets only to 16 Mb! I´ve set the jumpers properly on 3.3 V. What could be wrong?
Thanks in advance.

Quite probably the memory is not compatable with that board...if you have the manual read the memory section carefully, it may say something like single-sided DIMMS or specify a density...basically you need to find out what is the recommended memory for the board. (the speed shouldn't matter, but there are other factors that do)

My new memory is a Micron sdram 64Mb Pc 66, and the only note in the manual of my MB is the next one:
"The mainboard lets you add up to 128Mb of system memory via SIMM and DIMM sockets on the mainboard. "
"1. Bank0 (Simm1 & Simm2) and Dimm the two types DRAM module can not be used at the same time.
2. All simms and Dimm module speed must faster than 70 ns
3. All simms and Dimm module can use eiyher 1-sided or 2-sides
4. Simm socket dram type: Fast Page Mode or Extend Data Out (EDO)
5. Dimm socket dram type Fast Page Mode or Extend Data Out (EDO)or synchronous dram (SDRAM)
6. Synchronous dram (sdram jp1, jp2) must be set to 3.3 V position"

A little more system info would be more helpful...like the brand and model number of the motherboard....how much is currently installed, and what kind....

Hey,
Seen this before. What most likely is happening is that your motherboard/chipset combination can only recognize 2-clock SDRAM. What you just bought is no doubt 4-clock SDRAM. That's why the system will only recognize 1/4 of the memory.
You have about three choices here. Either get a new motherboard, find some 2-clock SDRAM, or use strictly EDO RAM.
Good luck.
