After installing a new MB, Athlon T-Bird and 512 Mb DDR RAM and reloading Windows 98 SE, I am experiencing a strange lag when I reboot my PC. It boots up fine then after the desktop shows up the system freezes for about 2 minutes then finishes. After that everything is fine.

Any ideas?

Did you remove the old drivers before installing the new Mother board?
If not windows is probably have to deal with too many old drivers and sorting out what to use.

How would I go about determining wether or not the old Intel board's drivers are still in the system? THen who do I go about removing them if they are there?

Reboot your computer and start it in safe mode from the boot menu.
In safe mode enter the device manager .
It should list all the drivers installed.

Just click on those not needed and use the remove button on the bottom of the window for each driver from the old system.

Reboot when done and they should be gone.

Also do you have a netowrk card installed? on-board? Are you connected to a network?

If you are not connected to a network or need it for a high-speed internet (cable/dsl modem) then disable/remove the network card....

I do have a network card. I have a cable modem so it is in use at all times. However, before the new upgrades this wasn't a problem. I will check the drivers this evening.

Thanks.
