Last week, on my way home from work, I stopped to get a six pack. The young girl behind the counter carded me! I'm 50 years old.
This morning, on my way to work, I stopped at Dunkin' Donuts to get a coffee and breakfast sandwich and the lady gave me the senior citizen discount!
I'm so confused...

I feel the pain steve.. Most of the time that I get carded Why who knows but the people carding me are younger than my kids???? I have to tell them that I'm on the verge of being a Great Grand Dad if that gives you an inclination. it is nice to look young enough to get carded .. I think..:) there supposed to card anyone that looks at least under 35?? Thank your lucky stars you look young.

"Getting carded" is a way of saying that you were asked for identification proving you are old enough to buy alcohol. :)

The beard is white.
The hair is salt and pepper.
I don't get carded.
I like the senior discount idea though... ;)

Me too, Steve, I feel your pain! :(
I remember the first time I was not carded for alcohol like it was yesterday...
Whenever I'm around a young person who's carded, and complaining, I usually remark that it's actually a compliment...all too soon they don't...
And yep, going through a drive through one morning getting a coffee...one of those where they have a video screen to see your order and the total. My cup of coffee came up on the screen, whence I was asked if I was a senior citizen...I replied, "Does 52 qualify?"
I watched as the total for the coffee was reduced to $.25 cents...Ouch, that hurt...I would have rather paid the full amount! :(
If you could, would you turn back the clock??

To the kids who work in those places, 52 is ancient... extremely senior...:D
When I was in college and still underage to buy booze, friends would send me to get it. I just took of my hat, dazzled them with the glare off of my extended forehead and they didn't bother to ask for ID.... :D

I can't remember the last time I was carded it's been so long ago. What gets me about it all is that I can't get a second glance from the babe behind that counter hell I don't get a first glance any more. Makes this frisky old man want to weep. :(

And go through all that again??? No thanks. :p
Last time I got carded I was so happy, I told the girl I loved her and gave her a 5 dollar tip!
Of course, 5 dollars went a lot further back then than it does now. :D
Enjoy it while it lasts folks. ;)

I wish I could say that I got carded because of my youthful good looks but it's not so. When asked for the ID I said something like "Ya right" and stood there. She stood there staring at me. I got a little aggravated when I realized she was serious. She said her boss had given her direct orders that NOBODY was to buy alcohol without an ID and I wasn't getting the beer until I produced one. I had to go back out to the truck to get it.
The middle aged woman behind the counter at Dunkin's did give me a wink when she gave me the discount, though. I wonder what that was all about...

I have never been asked for ID when buying booze. I wonder if it has anything to do with always looking unshaven and hostile.:p

Oh my oh my! Well I know from places I have worked at that you could go to jail for selling alcohol to someone under aged and if you were behind a counter and had to decided who was and who wasn't and then think about jail time...you'd card everybody too LOL! I worked in a place where someone did go to jail for not carding...It was a sting..they sent a kid in to buy beer and this kid was not carded and standing behind this kid was a DEA agent and alas....the cashier was arrested right there on the spot..believe me..everybody got carded after that!
Also consider that in Walmart they will card for R rated movies...spray paint...certain kind of glues...what is this world coming to!

In belgium, no one gets carded and shop owners have to decide for themselves wether or not they sell alcohol (or spray paint, ...) to minors.
Seems to work out so far... :)

Were these contradictions all included in your country's constitution ? I guess not.
