Welcome to http://www.pcguide.com/ubb/pcgubb.gif
I am sorry, but the spectrum of things that could be wrong is too great to guess with the info you provided. We need more info to help. What are your system specs? Is this a new system, new install, is there any new hardware/software??? What troubleshooting have you already done?? Was the system working okay and then went bad?? What were you doing when it went bad if that is the case???
The more you tell us, the more likely we can help....

Also, would you right-click on My Computer (on the Desktop) slide down and click on Properties and have a look at Device Manager...
Would you let us know if you see any ! or ?...
Also, you might want to click on the (+) and then highlight the item that shows up. Click on Properties and then the Settings Tab and let us know if it says there are any conflicts...

Most important question, what was the last thing you did before this started? Install any hardware, software or drivers? Game? Screensaver? Uninstall anything?
In other words all the info you can give us leading up to this problem, every little bit helps, since this can be caused by a dozen things. Or more.

Then look for the category Troubleshooting and Repair Guide, then on under topics

Then at the bottom of this page look for How to Troubleshoot Windows Millennium Edition Startup Problems.
This cloud be cause by an unknown fluke or something you install. And evening be cause by installing new hard work and is usually means you have a conflict between devices. Under the same page under troubleshooting you'll also find articles thereto.
If the above fails try other troubleshooting sections on the how-to page under troubleshooting.
Also, as you bought this computer for example like a HP try your restored cd-rom. Only restore this if your restored cd-rom are Windows ME
DO NOT DO THIS AGAIN! wmicro....spamming is not allowed, and running to a restore CD is not an answer either, nice try spammer!!!
Also, a clean boot may help to troubleshoot the problem:

Also every venison from Windows 95 to Windows XP from upgrades to full versions of Windows from THE OEM are different from the series on HP machines for example are completely different as well they are design for HP machines and curiosity on how they work and is completely beyond your comprehension. You may have an engineering degree but you still need lots to more to learn.
What is good for the goose is good for the gander
I don't know what this is all about. I only know that people are complaining to me about this thread.
Apparently Paleo Pete or mjc has already been involved in dealing with this, so I will leave it to them to continue to address it. wmicro, we have a short fuse here on spam; if you didn't intend to spam then fine, but please, let's try to get back to the subject.
Thanks.

Nice try, wmicro, or should I say colleen?
But if there is one thing we dislike more than spammers, it is trolls.
This entire episode seems to have been a setup for the sole purpose of spamming "wmicro"'s web site.
If he had simply asked me, I would likely have had no problem with him posting a single announcement here about another forum that is of interest to the people here. Since he chose instead to be deceptive and wasteful of the time and energy of both myself and the two moderators, I have banned both accounts.
