Well, I hope Valentines Day went well for all you guys. If you disappointed your girl this year, you can still make it up to her. I think THIS (http://sacbee.com/state_wire/story/8260120p-9190734c.html) could make even the hardest to please lady happy.

Yeah, I got my sweetie one of those. ;)
Actually, its enormous size had such a deflating effect on world diamond prices that it's not worth as much as I originally estimated. :(
Shipping and handling costs were outrageous, though! :D

In what galaxy would you find enough platinum or gold for a setting??
Actually, since it's literally out of reach, I'm gonna tell my Sweetie about it and let her know that it's hers and I'll have UPS deliver it as soon as it's on their route...

What if that thing is actually a Stylus on an enormous record player....The entire universe nothing more than an old LP spinning round and round?
And then.........What if God decides to throw it away and go with a CD Player???

Sorry, I didn't mean to be so esoteric...
Just thinking aloud...if someone did receive a rock that big would we say they're majorly stoned...or would that be mean?

It might be just a rumor, but I heard that Bill Gates already bought it.

I remember a scifi-story (or book) where they use a planet just like this as some kind of memory bank. Somehow they were able to store and retreive date inside the huge diamond making it the universe largest hard disk.
Too bad it won't fit in my case though...

Worse yet-- what if we're created on 33 rpm, and He turns up the
turntable speed to 45 rpm?

Right, wasn't that a Larry Niven story, wasn't it one of the Detective Gil Hamilton adventures? Or was it a fantasy of one of the characters, or on the home planet of the Nessus creature? It's been years since I read Niven. Nessus was the three-legged critter that could imitate any sound in the universe with its voice, and their civilization lived on some secret planet somewhere...somethinglikethatwasntit?

Actually he bought to turn it into a computer chip, after seeing the movie 'Zardoz', starring Sean Connery.

You're talking about the ringworld trilogy. Grand stuff indeed! The pupeteers (nessus' species) had propelled their planets into intergalactic space to escape the exploding of the center of the milky-way!
However, I believe it was Asimov who did the diamond planet thing. It was used to house the bank of the sun-dogs I believe...
ah, memory. Such a fragile thing... :)

Gee how come Bill Gates name has to come up in everything!!!!!
It is not fair...ruined my fantasy of having a big...humongous diamond mansion....with diamond walkways...diamond hedges...diamond lawn chairs for all the parties....but noooooooo....he has to get his grubby little hands on this too!!
