View Full Version : windows reloads drivers every time
hey,
win 98 abit kt7 raid duron 800 using old rendition card and voodoo2
problem i'm having is win loads the rend card every initial boot then i have 2 loaded. then i have to boot in safe, remove both and let it reload for it to (maybe) work this time.
i know, i'm waiting on a newer card. but... any suggestions in present. why would windows want to load drivers almost every time?
thnx
rob
One thing that I can think of is that there is an actual problem with the card, does it work fine once you have the drivers loaded?
Also what happens if you only remove one set of drivers?

well, if i delete one, it will load another, then if i don't let it restart, system shows only one verite (the card) with a yellow (exclamation mark?). if i let it restart, there will be two drivers loaded whenever i get back to safe mode, since the screen is funky if you let it load.
the pci verite works fine, i'm using it now, pulled it from my amd k62 that also worked fine. i also have a agp rendition that will do the same thing.
i have to believe it's just going to be the drivers (alas, no longer supported by rendition, micron) to go with the board. mostly wondering if there was a workaround.
i've had a LOT of fun this week, finding new drivers flashing bios on the mb just to get the soundboard working in the middle of all this.
i think i've been taught. one system works leave it and have all new hardware when you do a new one http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif. but again, it's been fun!
