My computer running ME, doesn't want to connect to the network or internet. The D Link software connects to my router, but then IE or AIM can't connect to the network or internet. What's wrong?

Probably a router problem, can you ping to anyone, say your ISP?

192.168.1.1, but when I type that in, it doesn't take. It just searches for http://192.168.1.1, then http://192.168.1.1.com, then http://192.168.1.1.edu, and so on, utnil it can't find anything (because it can't even connect to the router).

try typing 192.168.1.254 into browser and see if a page comes up

That didn't even work on computers that can connect to the internet.

That is the default gateway address to a router, how you control the gateway.

It didn't work, because I have a Linksys router, and the gateway is 192.168.1.1, not 254.
