virus

can a virus (such as nimda) slow down your comp? Even though infected files are quarrantined?

I got the virus nimda. Nortons anti virius quarrantined it. I found out it was taking up hard disk space, so I deletled the quarrantined files. It took a while over 2,000 files and got my disk space back. That might not be the right way but as of yet I have not had any problems. My 2 teenage grand dauhgts went to some sites that they should not have been on. All files were internet. Hopes this helps. Yes it slowed down my computer.
