Oldest subject in the book, but i gotta vent http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

Man o man, am i tired of these hundreds of annoying, spam emails i get through my hotmail account. Even though i block them, they still come back to haunt me.

I am not sure if i'm the only one, but the amount of thrash i get is incredible and annoying. My blocking capacity in Hotmail has already reached it's limit http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/frown.gif I am not on any mailing lists (i never enter the information or ticked those fields that asks me if i want to receive things here and there).

Apart from writing the ISP to complain, creating other accounts, and deleting them (and deleting some good messages of my friends as well) since the subjects are very tricky sometimes from those spams like :

You have been accepted
Re: your request
etc.

i feel those spammers just would leave us alone http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

Just wanted to vent http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

Thanks for listening (or reading that is ) http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

Ahh the pitfalls of Hotmail. When you open a Hotmail acct close to the bottem are two small boxes that are checked by default they say that you want to be in their directories. These really need to be un-checked. My first hotmail acct I did not do this and I recieved all kinds of trash including porn http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/frown.gif . My current one I unchecked these and I recieve no un wanted e-mail. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif Also be careful of whom you give your email addy to most have sister companys and they don't always ask if they can share it. Always read their security statement first. if they don't have one don't give them your addy.

Hey Eli,
I can imagine your frustration. You log on, your expecting something important from a friend, you see that you have a stack of mail, and after going thru it carefuly to make sure you don't delete anything you want, you realize there is nothing but a load of junk http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/mad.gif
To go along with Lucias' statement, I would think any of the free E-mail services would have to do something to earn revenues. I have never used them so I am unfamiliar if they use popups, banners, or like in your case, supplying mailing lists.
I know that is something that would drive me absolutely crazy, as I already get a bit twisted when I get nothing but the couple of newsletters I subscribe to. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/eek.gif

Let it vent brother, ...IIIIIII'MMMMM listenin. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Not only do i have numerous filters in Outlook, but i also use a program called Mailwasher (http://www.mailwasher.net/), works great-then i can preview my mail long before i download it-saving myself a lot of hassle.
