Well, I liked getting my braces off a little more because at the orthodontists there was a girl in the chair next to mine getting hers off to. I found out she was a freshman (like me:D) cheerleader for a local girls school. So we were talking for almost the whole 2 hours it took to get 'em out and make the retainers.;)
I don't know if I got my money's woth, partly because I didn't pay for them, but I am glad to be out after 2 years.

Alrighty then...

Do you plan on marring her???? If not get over it.... :D
If you plane on it get on with it already..;) Love is wasted on youth..

Wow!! Why should I need to listen to the evening news on TV when I can get all of this important information here. I, also, got a hair cut today, but that wasn't nearly as exciting as getting braces removed. Maybe I'll get lucky tomorrow and stub my toe or something.

Mark--I've got to tell you that I give you credit for telling the most interesting story so far. Having 3 teeth put in is by far more interesting that anything I've read so far. Even though when I got my haircut, the barber nicked me a little bit, that nothing compared to having 3 teeth put in. Congratulations!! Wow!

I've had a hair cut today as well, so now one hair on my head is shorter than all the others. Tomorrow, I'm gonna have the rest of them cut as well tomorrow.

Hey, killercow--sorry for the joking around I've been doing. After reading what I said, it sounded like a bad joke. At my age, I sometimes open my mouth before I engage my brain. Having braces removed is something to remember. I know when my grandchildren had their braces removed, they were really happy. I think they missed eating things like pop-corn and things like that. So, that was a big day for them when their braces came out. Take care and please except my apology for trying to make a joke out of it.

What's so spectacular about getting braces and your hair taken out ?

As Frank said if you ever had braces and then had then taken out you would understand what the big deal was. I think what made his day though was the young girl he met

It's ok Frank, I didn't take it offensively.
Yea, after 2 years it's a pretty big deal.

I helped my wife do the wash. Then I was going to go shopping, but I was too tired from helping my wife, so I went upstairs and took a nap. I really enjoyed my nap and decided to do it more often. That is--I'm going to take a nap more often, not help do the wash more often. Maybe I can pretend that my back hurts when it comes time to do the wash again.:)

I found out my wife needs minor surgery. Not major. Then we did what Frank was supposed to do and went shopping, then I took a nap.

Oh yeah, I also shoveled about 6" of heavy wet snow from my driveway...then I thought about taking a nap!
However, my "honeydew list" seems to be growing exponentially! And, try as I could, nowhere on the list could I find take a nap... :(

Ever had braces? I did...metal bands glued to your teeth and strapped to a wire, then tightened until it hurts. Re-tightened every few weeks and re-wired every few months to force your teeth to move to a new location. I couldn't eat anything but scrambled eggs, oatmeal and soup for 3 days every time. I had a tooth that came in backwards, the first one in the US successfully turned around 180°. It cost me 3 years of pain. Also had 5 teeth pulled a few weeks before the braces were put on, 4 never came back. Too crowded...My lower jaw hurts even now just thinking about it.
Then there's the reaction of the morally challenged at school, ranging from light-hearted teasing to outright abuse. And the less-than-pleasing appearance every time you open your mouth to say something. Or take a picture...Smile???? HUH??? Are you out of your mind???
Try braces for a few years yourself before you ridicule someone else who is glad thay had theirs removed. It is certainly something to be glad about.

There we go again, don't we ?
Who said I was ridiculing anyone ? Please read my post again, and then think some.
I have never had braces, but I know what dental care and its often less-than-pleasant sensations are. As for your story, it sounds like one of the more extreme...
Yes, children and young people can be very insensitive, but that's probably due to lack of life experience. I for my part have never been shocked or repelled by the sight of a child with braces. If there is anything shocking in it, it is the seemingly widespread new custom of subjecting as many children as possible to this treatment.
