Hi Timsotherhalf,

Welcome to http://www.pcguide.com/ubb/pcgubb.gif forums!

Your thread will probably be relocated to: Wide Area... in the Networking and Internet area. No problem, just follow it there and post replies in the same one.

NetZero has in the past contained spyware. But even if not, you should begin by telling us about your system and whether it has a firewall and up to date antivirus softwares running.

You most likely will need to do a full security scan including some online scans for various malwares.

But let's start with hearing what your system specs are and proceed from there.

Would you go to Control Panel and double-click the Modem? Then click on Diagnostics...highlight your modem and click on More Info...

Let us know if anything comes up strange...

Also, would you please use lower case in your typing. Upper case is difficult to read and considered "SHOUTING" on the net...;)

Did you highlight and click on MORE INFO ?

It will then run a basic analysis of the modem

Oops, sorry...has it worked before and just now become buggered??

Okay...

In SAFEMODE, in Device Manager find the modem and highlight it and then click the REMOVE button. Reboot and let Windoze find and reload the drivers...perhaps a driver problem...
