Hi,
I have been getting a couple of viruses sent to me each day. It’s the first time this has happened what’s going on?
I pickup my e-mails with outlook express and I'm running Norton Antivirus 2004 this is set-up to check in coming and out going emails. The problem is when I receive these viruses they are automatically deleted by Norton’s before I open them, I don’t even get to the stage of reading who posted this and it’s gone.
I thought you could only get viruses from mail you open anyway it’s hard for me to explain this but I sort of receive a small txt file saying.

Norton Antivirus removed the attachment: your_letter.pif.
The W32.Netsky.D@mm threat was detected in the attachment.

Sadly, this is no longer true. Receiving an infected mail can sometimes be enough, that's probably why Norton deletes it as soon as the virus is detected.

Suppose its better being safe than sorry, its a good job I didn't wait a while before I upgraded from nortons 2003 - 2004.

I am still confused to why Ive only just started getting virues sent to me since about 2 march 2004, before this period I received one every six months it that. Is there something going on I should know?

Mark,
It is because Netsky is a new virus threat that you did not get these before. See the dates here:
Symantec (http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.netsky.d@mm.html)

It is rough out there right now, MyDoom and NetSky both being all over at the same time.

You aren't kidding! On my Pop3 Account, my ISP has quarantined at least two emails a day for the past week or so with Netsky.

I would love to get my hands on the nasty little "worms" responsible for this crap!

Hey! I just had a thought....Maybe the punishment when they catch some of these poeple would be to pull out a nice big Hypodermic Needle and infect them with a virus they'll never forget! :D

Sorry, I guess that's might be considered cruel and unusual punishment. :(
(It's a pretty nasty thought...Don't know what got into me).
