Upon installing a DVD, and running WINDVD2000 software, the warning comes up: ''create overlay failed'' - reduce resolution/colour. I've tried this but the warning continues. The DVD allows read of CDROMs ok but not DVD films. Can any one elucidate? Thanks

Make sure your monitor resolution is set at 16bit , not 32bit-i've seen this happen on some older vdieo card/monitor sytems.

32 bit sounds good, but is a serious memory hog-and no one alive can see all of 16 million colors, much less 32 million. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif

Try what iisbob said and then try to change the color to 256 colors, i had to do that one time with a dvd player and if it came with a card then it probably is the problem.
