Hi,
I have a Toshiba 2060cds laptop and the top half of the screen has black vertical lines. I have downloaded and reinstalled the s3 video driver but to no avail. Can anyone help.

I don't have a fix but see this earlier thread:

Thanks for the reply PrntRhd. That thread tells me I'm in real trouble. I just tried hooking the laptop up to my wife's monitor and it works just fine. Strange way for a monitor to go though with exactly half of the screen with vertical lines and the bottom half perfect. Not sure about one of the thread comments saying the repair is not too expensive. Anyone else's comments very welcome.

It is the display or connecting cables at the hinge area that are usually the problem, an unfortunate common problem with laptops.
I did find a site that might have parts for your Toshiba model, no rating on the vendor: parts (http://www.impactcomputers.com/toshiba-satellite-2060cds--parts.html)
Price for a flex connector cable for LCD is $25.00 on that site under Display Hardware. This would be the most likely problem, the flex cables are fragile.
