old compaq5665 pet. II 450 mz.320 meg ram.The computer
has win 98 and I put win 2000 on my D: partition.
Everything went fine except I have no mouse, not

Welcome to http://www.pcguide.com/ubb/pcgubb.gif
More info would be helpful. Is this a PS/2 mouse or something more exotic? Is it not working in Win2K only or in both OS? Have you checked Device Manager to see what it says about the mouse? What troubleshooting have you already done???

Thanks for your reply budfred.Sorry not much
info this is my first time posting ever I can
usually find a answer here this place is great
by the way.I have a ps2 mouse,also I tried a
different mouse no luck. The mouse works
on win.98.I also tried a 2000 repair no luck.
May I add I went back to the old compaq
after I posted to mess with it and discovered
when I installed 2000 I messed up and I think
it didnt install on my D:partition but I cant see
how 2 os,s can be on C: so I tried to reinstall it
choosing the D: partition but still no mouse.
Iknow that probly wasnt the thing to do but
you know the learning process. This computer is
my practice computer so nothing important on it
if I have to format and reinstall. I almost forgot
I cant get to the device manger to see if the mouse
is there the 2000 welcome screen comes up and I cant
exit out have to ctrl alt delete to shutdown.
Thanks again old.

Check this to learn keyboard commands so you can navigate until you get the mouse working:

Sorry to hear about the mess. I forgot to mention that it is possible to install Win2K or WinXP on the same partition as an existing install of Windoze, not a good idea, but possible.....
