freeze don't move!

Why is it that when I click on "connect" to connect(of course) to the internet, my com freezes. Although this doesn't happen often but still, it's a problem.

sorry, of all the things to forget, here they are:
dial-up(modem at 56k), win98 2nd ed., 256mb RAM, 64mb vc, P4 1.7ghz.
I don't know if these other specs are necessary, personally, I think you only need the dial-up and OS but hey if it help.
This problem occurs especially during after playing a game.

Have you spoken to your ISP about this? Are there settings in the TCP/IP section of the DIAL-UP connection that can be tweaked to help take care of this problem.
