Hi, this is my first post so forgive me if this question is not posted in the correct forum. I have recently purchased a used Compaq ProLiant 400 with CD rom and network card running W2K 4gig hard drive 64mg ram. It actually came to me with win98se but would only allow 2-16 colours. After speaking to Compaq they advised that this was a "server" computer and would only run properly on Win2000. So I upgraded to W2K. I added a sound card and installed a Ricoh CD-CDRW & DVDrom Model M9120A. Everything seems alright the computer recognises its there, but whenever I insert a disk (any kind) it only spins and the LED flashes orange. An error message read: I/O conflict. I have asked a few hobby techies, but they don't appear to know too much about the mysterious ways of the ProLiant 400. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you from a very willing to learn novice

Welcome to the forums, odd response from compaq, sounds like they didnt want to fool with this questions http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/mad.gif
But can you try a different cdrom, it could be a defective cdromm, if it shows up in device manager and it does not work then its defective.
