Travelmate 5300 with Win 98, Travelmate 4000M with Win 95. The 5300/ Win98 is the new machine and I want DCC to finish loading/transfering software.

DCC on the Win 95 machine works fine -- I have used it with at least two other Win 95 machines, including testing again today. The cable is good and the parallel port on the Win 98 machine is good -- I can use LinkMaven to move files between the same two machines. I don't see how this can be a hardware problem.

The symptom is that when I try to connect I get the 'trying' message then after a while a message wondering if I forgot to plug in the cable. No message at all (after did you start the guest yet?) on the host.

DCC claims to be installed on the Win 98 machine. I have gone through protocols, bindings, etc., etc. Using parallel port on both machines, host on Win 95 and guest on Win 98. File and printer sharing are enabled, the machines have the same workgroup name, Client for MS networks is installed. I have read the MS knowledge base which describes my problem exactly (in 188167) but prescribes a strange remedy of installing both NetBEIU and IPX/SPX protocols. Strange or not, I did it. No effect.

So the first question is -- has anyone here *ever* made DCC work from Win 98 -> Win 95? And if so, what was the winning configuration?
