i ran system mechanic and it found a lot of duplicate files but it also said some of the files might be there for a reason...i.e. if you don't know about it, don't delete it. I was going to break down the log into mangeable pieces and post one by one till i got rid of all the duplicates...but i think i should ask first if it will be ok for me to do that...so will it be?
i have been asking for a lot of help and feel bad about it...i don't want to be a leech!
There are some files that Windows, and possibly other programs, need duplicates of in order to run.
So be careful which files you get rid of.
In fact, you may not want to delete any duplicates, but instead keep your system trim and lean by frequently cleaning out the History, Temp, and Temporary Internet Files folders in the Windows folder, as well as deleting any other unnecessary .log, .tmp, and .txt files.
No, don't post the log....
Look at each pair of files and figure out if they are true dupes, or not.
If they are dll files, many programs use specific versions of a dll and will load that version in their folder, so they look for it there.
