system shutdown = motherboard?

hi guys, recently windows has been geting those win32 errors and the timer box of xp comes out saying i gotta close programs before an irreversible restart.

is this due to motherboard wear and tear? or is this jus ta software thing? never used to happen until my motherboard turned 3 months. using an asus via chipset. see specs below :D
