I was give a older AMD system 733MHz & a XP upgrade disk. Erased HD to delete private info & possible Blaster worm. Is the upgrade the way to go or does it cause problems. The price is right but need to increase the 128 MB memory. Les

An upgrade will work "fine" provided you start with a blank drive.
Just boot from the XP upgrade CD and at the appropriate time it should ask for a copy of a 98 CD just to verify that you are entitled to use an upgrade version.

Yes, as pave_spectre mentioned, no problem whatsoever with the "upgrade" version.
And the fact that you wiped the Hard Drive was an even better Idea than you think. Installing XP "over" another OS is usually nothing but problems.
You may have to change the boot order in Bios to boot from the CD Drive first, but then it works slick.
And you are correct about the Ram...Definately up that the at least 256mb...(512 even better)
