Well,
Just completed building my new system. Specs are p4 1.6 processor, msi ms-6528 le mobo, hdd, cd-rw, dvd, sb audigy platinum, visiontek geforce 3 vid card, 1024 mb pc133 sdram. when i crank her up the cd, dvd, hdd all spin the monitor goes black for a moment then the monitor test screen comes back up without continuing on to cmos setup http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/frown.gif . I have swapped monitors with another system and cables. I have also pulled the vid card and reinserted (I have not switched vid cards yet and am hoping to avoid that but will if necessary). the cooling fan on the chip and vid card both work as pretty as you please. Not sure where to go with this next. Teach me Bwannah. Also, when i turn the comp on using the it will not turn off using the power switch and has to be unplugged, not sure why that is. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

To turn the computer off, hold down the power button and it should cut off, called a soft switch.
Try to switch the cmos jumper pin to the other, place. Then try it , if that doesnt work put the jumper back where it was.
Did you make sure the fan was put on properly?
Also push the ram in harder, and see if that will make it boot up.
Try that and post back, and nice rig, wish i could afford it. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

Hmmmm,
Did as you instructed. The manual that came with the mobo is clear as mud...go figure. There are two jumpers that deal with CMOS j6 which blocks and unblocks the bios boot block then there is JBAT 1 which stores or clears the cmos data. I tried all combinations on these two with no luck *sigh*. So, what else you got in your bag-o-tricks? I suppose I could disconnect everything except for the vid card, keyboard and pull one of the DIMMS and see if I can get anything that way, also this board has a built in sound card, do you thing the audigy and it are interfering with each other? just a thought. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif

Quite possible...did you disable the on-board sound before you installed the Audigy?
You can pull it and see if you get anywhere, if so then go in and disable the onboard before you try again.

No,
There is no physical means that I can find on the board to do that. The only way to disable the sound is through the cmos which is what I cant get into http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/tongue.gif . Anyhow let me toy with a couple of options and then return.

Remove memory and reinstall one stick at a time, rebooting between sticks. I had this happen one time and that worked for me. I had to flash my bios to get mobo to take all my memory. Make sure each stick is seated good and locked.

One day I will be a pro, Thanks Andy

goto www.pricewatch.com. (http://www.pricewatch.com.) You can pick alot of things up for a song and a dance...especially memory. Only hitch is shipping costs, somebody at UPS will have a very good Christtmas http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/tongue.gif. As a matter of fact all components were bought from there, I think the price tag for me came in at under 700.00. Whole lot less then what I probably would have paid a reseller http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif .
