Long story short...
I was flashing an updated version of my BIOS and my PC froze midway through. Now I have jumbled garbage on my BIOS chip. So my problem isn't clearing the BIOS memory, but instead reinstalling the BIOS software. It's Award BIOS btw.
When I try to boot now, I get nothing but a black screen and no hard drive sounds.
The mobo is an old 440LX (Gigabyte GA-686LX) with a PII 300Mhz.
Thanks for any ideas,
Eugene
Do you know any one with the exact same board?
Do you have the manual? Some boards have the ability to recover from a bad flash, the manual would say if yours is one of these...
Here (http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/support/procedure1.htm) is a page at Gigabyte's site for the flash procedure and recovery options...
Manual is here (http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/support/sup_left.htm)

Welcome Alwayswong....
Alwayswong. Hehehe I like that.
A guy can do what is known as a hot-swap if you can come by a Mboard same as the one you spoke of.
I had the links to two different places that would do BIOS chip flashes for like $15 bucks. As long as they had your .bin file, etc. And your chip. Still trying to find 'em.
Luck.

I apologize if I'm stating the brutally obvious here, but have you tried removing the CMOS battery and shorting the connections? Thats likely all you need do. If that doesn't work, badflash.com is all thats left.

i dont know if this will help, does your mobo have a jumper that says "clear cmos", if so put the jumper on the two pins to clear cmos then put back. and reboot.

I know this isn't supposed to make any sense- but try it anyway.
Pull the video card and any memory chips off the MB.
I assume the speaker is connected... power up and listen for BIOS error codes. Power off, clear bios again and reinstall card, memory chips...
If you didn't get any BIOS audio codes you're probably screwed...anyway..
