I have a hard drive that has six partitions: A, C, D, E, F, G. G being CD rom drive. Had a problem with Media Player not playing music, but it indicated that it was playing. Install a sound card, rebooted, and was not able to get into desk top. Also, could not access CD rom drive. WEnt into Fdisk, only D, E, and F drives are indicated. Need help finding A, C, and G drives and installing them. Thank you.HELP
The letters A and B are reserved for use by floppy drives, and they cannot be used for hard drive partitions.
If G is your CD-ROM drive's letter, then the only HD partitions are C, D, E, and F. And since FDISK cannot see C, which is your bootable partition and you cannot boot into Windows, then do the following:
-Insert your Windows boot floppy, start the computer, select 'Start Without CD-ROM Support' from the menu that appears, press Enter, at the A:\> prompt type c: and at the C:\> prompt type fdisk /mbr (there is a space between fdisk and / ), press Enter.
-If that does not work, restart, select the same item as above from the menu, at the A:\> prompt type sys c: (there is a space between sys and c http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif, press Enter.
