Am trying to install the above card and corresponding driver. Everything appears to be successful, until I try to looka the Device Manager and there's an exclaimation mark next to the graphics card icon. Something about Code 13. I've tried taking the card out, and installing and reinstalling and it doesn't work.
I'm using in conjunction with a ASUS VIA PT800 motherboard. Do I need to download the AGP Bus Driver from the VIA website. If so, are the PN800 and PT800 the same thing, as I can't find the PT800 listed in the drivers menu on www.viaarena.com
Code 13 in Device Manager indicates that the device is either not present, not working properly, or does not have all the drivers installed.
Make sure the video card is fully inserted. Sometimes it needs a healthy push to fully seat.
If that's ok, then if your MB has an onboard video adapter, make sure it's disabled either in BIOS, or by repositioning a MB jumper.
If that does not help or if you're replacing an older video card, then start in Safe mode, uninstall all video card software in Add/Remove Programs, open Dev. Mgr., remove all video cards from the list, restart the computer, and reinstall the new video card's drivers.
If the problem still happens, then the new card may be bad.
Either try installinng it in another system, or try a different card in your system.
If the new card has the same problem on another system, or if another card works ok on your system, the the new card is probably bad. RMA it for a replacement.

Every chipset manufacturer has a slightly different order for installing drivers.
VIA's order is usually - chipset core drivers, audio drivers, video drivers (whether built-in or add-in card), AGP drivers. So if you haven't installed the AGP drivers yet, do that.
I found the PT800 just fine, but not the PN800. What's that?

I've tried installing and reinstalling about 10 times, and everytime there is an exclaimation mark against the icon.
Saphalline - I still couldn't find the PT800 listed on the graphics controller/display device screen on viaarena.com, only CLE266, VT8373, VT8361, K8M800, MP880 etc
Surely the AGP Bus Driver would come with the Motherboard disc.
Also, I can't now seem to successfully install the standard VGA controller, once I've disabled to Nvidia driver. Would the VGA driver be on the XP disk? I can only get 640x480 16 colours

What? You're serious? I always put on the drivers in any random order that comes to mind, usually video first  ! What would be benefits form using the correct order? Would it make a lot of difference in stability?

I haven't yet installed SP1a. Would this have any effect on the problems I'm having with the graphics drivers

Your chipset is made by VIA, not your video card! You want to download the latest chipset drivers from VIA. NVidia is the one who made your video card, go to them for the video driver.
What would be benefits form using the correct order? Would it make a lot of difference in stability? We had a thread about this very topic about 6-8 months ago, I think. Common consent was this - chipset, SCIS/SATA, LAN, sound, video, then other drivers as needed. I like to install my vid drivers ASAP simply because 60 Hz hurts my eyes a lot!
I suppose it makes things more stable, but it also brings order to the chaos of setting up a new system (or reinstalling). It also helps in the troubleshooting aspect.

Have now installed SP1 and formatted Hard Drive and installed and reinstalled. Always code 10. Have decided to get a new graphics card.
Is there any advantage in getting a new version of the same card? Or is it just incompatible with my setup, and therefore should I get a Radeon or something similar?
Is it Code 10, or Code 13 as initially posted?
Did you try installing the latest drivers from the Nvidia site?
If the new drivers do not help, then the card may be bad.
It's possible that it's not compatible with your system, but it may also just be bad.
You may want to check with the supplier on their terms for a replacement. If they agree to replace it with a different card(Radeon, etc.) for just shipping costs, then you can try that route.

I think it was Code 10 all along - whoops
Purchased from Dabs, as a DabsValue product. Could this be to blame. Is it worth the extra £10 for a brand I've heard of
If you have an older video card, then see if it works.
If it does, then replace the 5700.
If the older card does not work, then did you install the MB's chipset drivers as recommended by others in this string?
