Hi people, it is me again.

Thanks for all the help I could find in here. Now I have another small problem.

It is rather difficult for me to explain it because it is a technology I am not used to (yet.)

I'm trying to install a wireless network in a friend's home. He got two laptops and 2 pcmcia wireless cards and a wireless router. All of them are SMC products.

Of the cards and the router seem to be working perfectly OK because he can access the internet (the router is connected to a cable modem)

In the other hand, the other card can see the router, it appears in the list of "wireless networks available" but unlike the first, it donīt properly comunicate with the router. The first card receive an IP address from the wireless router, but the second donīt do the same. If I switch the cards, the same happens no matter which computer the card is plugged.

Is it possible that the card is defective somehow ? I did everything exactly like the instructions in the manual for the card and it donīt work, and the command "ipconfig /renew" wonīt work and putting an IP address manualy also donīt work.

The not-working card is a SMC2435W model

SOrry for the poor description but I donīt know exactly what to describe.

Thanks

That seems to answer your question Kumaiti...if you've followed all the setup instructions and are pretty sure everything is configured properly, (including the Router), then it sounds like that card may be bad.
(Have you checked in device manager to see if the "device is working properly").
Obviously it isn't, but any error messages may offer a clue.

Is it under Warranty, either from the Manufacturer or the place you bought it from where you can get a replacement to try?
