I've been trying to successfully install XP Pro over the last few days. When it first installed the PC would just boot straight into Windows, with not problems. What appears to be happening now, is I get the option of choosing whether to boot into 2 different Windows XP programs (as if you've pressed F8 during boot). Is there anyway I can get rid of one of these options, so the PC will choose the default and go straight to XP. Also, one is corrupted anyway, as it appears to be missing a .dll file

Is this the first time you've installed XP on this machine? (Oh, never mind...It appears it's not after reading your post again).
If you're doing a clean install, best bet is to set the Boot order in BIOS to boot from the CD first, insert CD and restart, then you will have the option to format and start fresh.
In the other matter, you may have to find the boot.ini file and remove the line for the extra OS....Not quite sure what your exact situation is, or what you hope to accomplish yet. ;)

It sure sounds like you have installed WinXP into multiple windows, windows.001 etc folders. The redundant line(s) in boot.ini will need removing/editing and the correct Windows directory removed (renamed to begin with to be on the safe side).
Please post a copy of your boot.ini file here so that we can check it out and advise more exactly.
