Well all I can do is give you the what happened----- as Im typing all seems well, it was not that way 2 hours ago. I`ll list what took place.
1] on boot up the start-up screens [3] were crazy all kinds of giberish and symbols.
2] in windows [if thats what you wanted to call it] the right half of the screen full of horzental lines, left side bad color but no lines.
3] Everything froze mouse and keyboard and a lot of loud noises from inside this home-built.
4] Soft booted and everything was normal, video was fine and less noise,
nothing froze until I played a CD in a remote enclosuer--played a while 1/2 hr and froze.I then went into system restore, back 5 days--things got better.
5]turned computer off waited a while [2 minutes] and rebooted--see 1] same again--------
Im just running bare essentials [ repaired Win Media Player] computer is now quiet [ like normal] been on 1,5 hrs and all is well.
Im leaning toward the HDD---or--- the remote enclosuer with a DVD Burner---the video card in 10 days old ATI 9800SE 256 MB I ranDirectX 9.0 and the video card is good according to that test.
