Another happy? meal from MS!!! If one can see the humor, apply the work around. Now try to run Windows Update to check for a patch. No can do - scripting, activeX need to be enabled!

After shaking my head in disgust, now sitting here ROFLMAO, wondering where to sign up for a great high tech well paying job. I know I have the ability to make such idiotic decisions... so why not get paid for it?

MJC will you pass the milk to go with the cookies, please... http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif

All the more reason to delete cookies and temporary internet files asap. And now we got to worry about web bugs too.

In defense of the all powerful M$, if you consider the huge amount of information that is available on all the cookies on all the comps across the Net it's like dangling diamonds in a thiefs face. Maybe it's time for a new system.

I've never liked "cookies" and have them disabled in my browser. ( alone with java,Active X, and scripting. I turn them on only if needed.) I've found that unless your visting an E-commerce site that you don't really need them. If I do some online shopping I'll always empty the "cookie jar" when I'm done.

With MS products if you don't need it. Turn it off.

analogx has the "cookiewall" app - nice LITTLE app that doesn't use a lot of resources. Tells me all my cookies, lets me opt for which ones I want to keep and which ones to automatically delete. I'm sure its not the only app like it out there but I have been pleased with the capability.

Like Ghost_Hacker, I don't like cookies and have them disabled along with Java and ActiveX. Not using IE 5.5 or 6 either, IE 5 seems to do fine so I haven't really seen a good reason to "upgrade" to either. Not to mention the many problems that popped up soon after the release of 5.5...they could have called it Bugs-R-Us...

Another good reason for turning ActiveX off is the sites out there that drop links in Favorites and reset your start page. ActiveX and Java are both being used for malicious purposes more every day, and while they were designed with good intentions, too many people have found out how to use either or both to do things you would NOT approve of if you knew it was happening...

Someone I know who would never dream of surfing porn sites suddenly found links to 3 porn sites in Favorites. Nobody else has ever touched the computer, so those links were put there by another site or emaiol...through an ActiveX script. I have found my own start page reset to porn sites I have never heard of and would not be interestred in.

Turning both off has stopped a lot of problems. Sure it's a nuisance to deal with the pop-up asking if I want ActiveX to run, but it sure beats having to clean up after these morons...
